About Sophie

Hi there!

Welcome to my personal website. I’m Sophie, a researcher at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and a PhD candidate in the AIML group at TU Darmstadt. Since 2019, I have been part of the Intelligent Software Systems group at DLR’s Institute of Software Technology.

I studied Psychology in IT at TU Darmstadt, where I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. During my Master’s thesis with the AIML group in 2018, I developed a strong interest in the interaction between humans and machine-learning-based systems.

My research focuses on human-centered artificial intelligence, particularly large language models, biases in machine-learning systems, and computational humor. I am interested in how models trained on human-generated data reflect human biases, values, and communication patterns—and how we can better understand and shape interactions between people and AI.

More recently, my work has increasingly focused on agentic AI and on how AI agents can be designed to act, coordinate, and collaborate with people in transparent and responsible ways.
